Open-pore Film Drainage (OFD) for Endoscopic Negativ Pressure Therapy

The OFD is a new drain for Endoscopic Negative Pressure Therapy (ENPT).

Various disadvantages of ENPT with drains using polyurethane foams are eliminated.

The advantages are:

- minimal diameter (4-6 mm or narrower)

- possibility of direct transnasal placement

- drainage element of any length 1-25 cm or even longer

- optimal drainage of fluids

- intracavitary and intraluminal ENPT

- single lumen drains

- double lumen drains with integrated feeding tube

- full surface suction effect

- less adhesion to tissue

- experience with esophagus, stomach and duodenum

- complimentary therapy with polyurethane foam drains

- easy to make and use

On the following articles and videos you will find first experience reports and construction notes for the making of the drainage tool, which is currently not available for purchase.

Single-lumen Open-pore Film Drainage (OFD)

How to construct a single-lumen OFD?

The new small-bore device is used in endoscopic vacuum therapy with small openings. Video shows construction of open-pore film drainage (OFD)

Material for construction of an OFD: openpore Drainagefilm (oF, CNP Drainagefilm Lohmann&Rauscher), gastro-duodenal tube (T), suture (S)

Double-lumen Open-pore Film Drainage (OFD)

How to construct a double-lumen OFD?

The new device is used for reflux drainage after Ivor-Lewis resection and enables enteral feeding simultanously. Video shows construction of OFD.

Openpore film (oF) is wrapped surround the gastric openings of a Trilumina-tube, intestinal feeding tube (IC), ventilation channal (V) is blocked (b) with a clamp.

Pull-through Open-pore Film Drainages

How to construct a pull-through OFD?

The new devices are used to insert a drainage in pull-through technique. Video shows construction of OFD.

New pull-through drainages: openpore polyurethane-foam (OPD), openpore polyurthane-foam covered with film (OPFD), openpore film drainage (OFD), diameter is sized down.
